The Edig@s message specifications are developed to support electronic communications between internationally operating companies in the European gas industry. Since 1997, the Edig@s Workgroup, composed of gas industry experts, has been developing message specifications to provide a uniform model in accordance with the specific requirements of the gas market based on the UN/EDIFACT EDI standard. The Edig@s Workgroup is a member of EASEE-gas, the European Association for the Streamlining of Energy Exchange.

GEFEG provides the individual message types and profiles based on the Edig@s message specifications version 3.2 for message testing. For each of the message specifications a check package is available in the GEFEG.Validation.Portal.
