GEFEG Reaffirms Commitment to X12 Tools for Members Program
Falls Church, VA, April 22, 2008 – The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 is pleased to announce that GEFEG reaffirms its commitment to the X12 Tools for Members Program. The GEFEG.FX CICA Editor is the first product on the market that enables users to generate, modify and maintain X12 Context Inspired Component Architecture (CICA) constructs and data models, and the company has generously contributed its product to X12 developers since 2005.
Invented by ASC X12, CICA provides developers with a modeling methodology that produces well-structured messages made up of reusable, syntax-neutral components that can be expressed as XML messages, user-friendly reference guides, and other syntaxes.
Unique to ASC X12, developers can now use the GEFEG.FX CICA Editor to develop XML messages and submit them via automated import into X12's Standard Metadata Repository (XSMR). This capability provides developers a user-friendly, graphical interface for coordinated and streamlined development and maintenance of cross-industry messages.
A new release of the GEFEG.FX CICA Editor (6.1) will be available by end of April 2008. The release will contain X12-CICA-Version 44 (the latest CICA data model) and GEFEG is prepared to implement imminent changes to the CICA specification. This new release improves X12 working group collaboration by adding the capability to store data in a SubVersion repository of the software. In addition to the X12 Tools for Members version, GEFEG offers CICA Editor Professional, a commercial version of the CICA Editor. This product enables enterprises to use CICA data models, and features application-specific customization of CICA models and their representation as XSD schemas.
"We are very grateful to have GEFEG participating in the X12 Tools for Members Program, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with GEFEG to improve the availability of CICA metadata for use in X12 standards development," said Dan Kazzaz, ASC X12 Chair.
"GEFEG feels honored to be part of this important development in X12. CICA is one big step toward the exciting implementation of model driven architectures (MDA). CICA models have the potential to serve as a single source for many deliverables. We would be pleased if the continuous development of the CICA Editor will contribute to the success of the X12 CICA initiative," said Michael Dill, Chief Executive Officer of GEFEG.
GEFEG is a long-time active member of ASC X12. The full ASC X12 membership meets face-to-face three times a year to design standards and exchange industry expertise, with the next meeting taking place June 1-6, 2008 at the Sheraton New Orleans. Additional information on ASC X12, its membership, and upcoming meetings can be found on its web site at www.X12.org.
