In 1979 ANSI (the American National Standards Institute) charged its Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 with the development of a uniform standard for the electronic exchange of commercial documents. The primary goal was and is to develop standards for procurement process, including orders, deliveries, receiving, invoicing and payment, as well as for other data generated in connection with the delivery of products and services.
Today the standard known as ASC X12 is widely used especially in the USA and the rest of North America, and is a key component of the EDI infrastructure in many US companies. ASC X12 continues to be developed as a major standard in its own right alongside UN/EDIFACT and newer EDI formats.
The X12 module which is available for GEFEG.FX contains the X12 directories starting with 002001. New directories are integrated in the module upon publishment. Whenever a new release is available GEFEG.FX users receive a data update, or the new data is made available via internet download. In addition the X12 module includes an import interface to import DISA files in table format into GEFEG.FX. This function allows users to load intermediate versions of X12 into the product.
